Program:

In this piece, the string quartet plays the role of a metal band, simulating the highly distorted rhythmic patterns and soaring melodies present in the metalcore genre. The musical material for this piece was taken from a song that I composed for a metal band when I was in high school. The original composition for metal band can be heard here.
