At the time of writing this piece, I was reflecting on the constant and unavoidable passage of time. I was in the middle of my graduate studies with a seemingly endless pile of articles to read, papers to write, projects to complete, and, of course, music to compose. It happened often that I would begin work in the afternoon on one of my many tasks and look out the window to find a darkened sky. The day was over. I would go to sleep, wake up the next day, and repeat. Each day seemed to simultaneously drag on while flying by and as much as I wished the world would just stop, time moved relentlessly forward.

The music of The Inevitable Drift into Tomorrow emulates this constant, repetitious movement as it flows over uneven meters and through seemingly unrelated key areas. It is not until the end that the music takes a sudden look back, as I did every day when I looked out my window to see that the sun was gone and a new day was on the horizon.
